HISTORY OF BEANTOWN BABY DIAPER BANK
Beantown Baby Diaper Bank (BBDB) was founded in August 2018 by Rachel Segaloff. Rachel first learned about diaper need after discovering a local diaper bank in Waltham, MA that accepted unopened baby formula samples she had received from formula companies. She arrived at the diaper bank with her own baby in tow and began asking questions about its work.
That conversation introduced Rachel to the issue of diaper need and the challenges families face when they cannot afford an adequate supply of diapers. As a new mother, Rachel could not imagine not being able to provide enough clean diapers for her own baby. She wanted to help ensure that other families in her community had access to this basic necessity, too.
What began with a desire to help families in her own community grew into Beantown Baby Diaper Bank, now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to alleviating diaper need across Greater Boston.
